.NET in action: Sightsavers procurement
Working with international charity, Sightsavers, we have used .NET development tools to enhance the procurement across the organisation.
Linking to their internal procurement software, Proactis, we have been able to build a procurement planning tool that has not only made the procure-to-pay function more streamlined but also helped to drive savings in annual purchasing and control the compliance aspect of procurement.
Whilst Sightsavers already had an advanced procurement function, the global nature of their deployment meant that transport (sometimes temperature controlled), control of expiry dates and the sheer scale of purchasing created added complexities that needed managing.
The .NET development we carried out allowed the creation of controls where necessary and the aggregation of requisitions across the organisation on an annual basis. The result is Sightsavers can now utilise the information that already existed to develop buying strategies, negotiate with suppliers and efficiently manage stocks based on criteria including location, temperature, demand and expiry.
